At this workshop we will discuss the unpublished book manuscript Kant on Shared Mental Content. Communicability and Spontaneity in his Critical Philosophy with its author Ulrich Schlösser. In this monograph, Ulrich Schlösser develops an interpretation of the interpersonal dimension of Kant’s thinking. The focus is on the concept of communicability, which Kant first describes in some detail in the context of his Critique of Aesthetic Judgment. Schlösser analyzes in detail how the role of communicability as the communicability of a feeling is to be understood in the context of aesthetic theory and what lessons we can draw from this for Kant’s critical philosophy, especially for his conception of judgment and objectivity.
