Workshop: “Nature Between Politics and Metaphysics: Reassessing German Idealism and Romanticism” (June 24-25th, Padova)

We are pleased to announce that the workshop “Nature Between Politics and Metaphysics: Reassessing German Idealism and Romanticism” will take place in Padova on June 24th and 25th.

Workshop: "Nature Between Politics and Metaphysics: Reassessing German Idealism and Romanticism" (June 24-25th, Padova)

RATIONALE OF THE WORKSHOP
The workshop will revolve around Alison Stone’s latest book “Ethics and Gender in German Romanticism and Idealism” (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018), which addresses some key recent issues in naturalism, feminism and post-colonialism/de-colonialism and situates them in relation to the history of German philosophy.

Following Alison Stone’s approach, the workshop will establish a dialogue between studies in Classical German Philosophy and Romanticism and current debates on topics such as nature, life, gender, the family, and race.

Eleven internationally known scholars will take up questions animating these areas by using this cross-disciplinary perspective. Alison herself will also join the conversation, illuminating the potentialities of her work from both a theoretical and a political point of view
