We are glad to announce that a conference will be held in Berlin, entitled “The Disunity of Reason: On Kant’s Antinomies” and organized by Professor Reed Winegar,Volkswagen Fellow at the Dahlem Humanities Center. The event will be held at Freie Universität Berlin, in room L116 (Seminarzentrum), Habelschwerdter Allee 45, 14195 Berlin.

The workshop aims to focus on the importance of Kant’s antinomy theory, as it was for instance immediately recognized by thinkers as Fichte, Hegel, Hölderlin, Maimon, Maaß, and Schelling. Furthermore, the conference sets to explore the influence of Kant’s antinomy theory on contemporary metaphysical, epistemological, scientific, religious, moral, political, historical, and aesthetic theories.

The workshop proposes to examine both the historical and systematic importance of Kant’s antinomies; participants are encouraged to consider Kant’s concept of an antinomy in relation both to Kant’s own intellectual context and to our current intellectual situation today.
