Conference: “Idealism & Pragmatism: Convergence or Contestation?” (23-25 July 2015)

We are pleased to announce the London Conference: “Idealism & Pragmatism: Convergence or Contestation?” (23-25 July 2015).

The conference is the final event of a project funded by the Leverhulme Trust and based in Sheffield. The aim of the project is not mere eclecticism or to reduce each side to bland uniformity, but rather to shed light on where these two major traditions stand, both historically and conceptually, and to explore where each can learn from the other, both in terms of finding common ground, and in offering mutual critiques.

Key-note speakers include:

Robert Brandom (University of Pittsburgh)
Christopher Hookway (University of Sheffield)
John Kaag (UMass Lowell)
David MacArthur (University of Sydney)
Robert Pippin (University of Chicago)
Huw Price (University of Cambridge)
Ulrich Schlösser (University of Tübingen)
Claudine Tiercelin (Collège de France)

Place of the Conference: Institute of Philosophy (London)

The organizers of the conference opened a call for papers on any theme relating to the purposes of the project. The deadline for submitting the papers is 1st October 2014.
