We are glad to inform that a call for papers for the yearly conference of the International Network Hegel’s Relevance / Internationales Netzwerk Hegels Relevanz is open. The conference will be devoted on the topic Logic and Modernity. Hegel’s Science of Logic as paradigm of modern subjectivity, and will take place at the University of Jena on June 27-29, 2019.
The deadline for submitting the papers is on March 15, 2019.

The International Network Hegel’s Relevance / Internationales Netzwerk Hegels Relevanz cordially invites submissions for the yearly Network Conference.
Despite the myth that Hegel tried to suppress particularity in favor of universality, Hegel can be regarded as the philosopher who stresses the importance of particularity as crucial part of the concept of freedom. The third conference of the international network focusses on the relation between the particular and the universal in Hegel’s Logic and its role in Hegel’s concept of subjectivity as a pivotal part of his philosophy of freedom. Furthermore, the roots of Hegel’s idea of liberty in his Science of Logic will be discussed, its impact on modern society, and its influence on current discussions in Philosophy, Political and Social Theory, and Law. We welcome papers on any aspect of the topic. The aim of the papers should be systematic rather than merely historical-philological. The conference aims at stimulating fruitful exchanges between established scholars, junior researchers, and PhD students.
The presented papers will be considered for publication in the peer-reviewed series ‘Critical Studies in German Idealism’ (BRILL: Leiden/Boston). Publication language: English.
Abstracts (no more than 500 words!) should be sent as attachment (PDF) to folko.zander@uni-jena.de.
Abstracts should be prepared for double-blind review by removing any identification details. The author’s name, paper title, institutional position and affiliation, as well as contact information and a short CV, should be included in the body of the e-mail, with ‘Submission Hegel Network 2018’ in the subject line.
We assume that financial assistance will be available for hotel costs (2 to 3 days). At this stage, however, we cannot indicate a specific amount.
