CFA for International Conference: Dialectic and the Ends of Reason

We gladly announce that a Call for Abstract for the International Conference “Dialectic and the Ends of Reason” is now open.

The conference is organized by the Zetesis Research Group and will be held in Pisa in June 2016. The deadline for abstract submission is March, 1 2016. Applications shall include: an extended abstract of 600 to 800 words in PDF format and a separate cover sheet with the applicant’s details (name, title of presented paper, affiliation, email address and other contact details), both to be sent at the zetesis@unipi.it address.

The aim of the conference is to bring back dialectic to the philosophical forum, whereas the notion seem to have suffered a fall from grace in the latest developments of philosophy. Through a retrieval of dialectic, the philosophical scenario would find both a way of reconsidering reason in terms of its autonomy and an escaping hatch from a merely instrumental conception of it.

Papers  proposing comparisons between different authors of the dialectical tradition, as well as papers attempting at a global redefinition and defence of the bond between dialectic and reason are strongly encouraged.  Thematic contributions on single concepts and authors will nevertheless be taken into consideration.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by the end of March. Contributions should be suitable for 30 minutes talk and can be submitted in English, Italian, German, French; however, all the non-English speaking contributors will have to supply a long abstract of their paper in English (no less than 1300 words).
