The International Network Hegel’s Relevance /Internationales Netzwerk Hegels Relevanz cordially invites submissions for the yearly Network Conference. The topic of the Conference in 2018 is: Eine sittliche Moderne? Grenzen und Potential von Hegels Konzept der Sittlichkeit heute/ An Ethical Modernity? Hegel’s Concept of Ethical Life Today – Its Limits and Potential.

The second conference of the international network discusses various aspects of Hegel’s concept of ethical life (Sittlichkeit). Its aim is to elaborate on its relevance for contemporary discussions in political and social theory and analyze especially the nature of modern Sittlichkeit.

Papers on any aspect of the topic are welcome. The aim of the papers should be systematic rather than merely historical-philological. The conference aims at stimulating fruitful exchanges between established scholars, junior researchers, and PhD students.

The presented papers will be considered for publication in the peer-reviewed series ‘Critical Studies in German Idealism’ (BRILL: Leiden/Boston). Publication language: English.

Abstracts (no more than 500 words!) should be sent as attachment (PDF) to hegel_relevance2018@hotmail.com

Abstracts should be prepared for double-blind review by removing any identification details. The author’s name, paper title, institutional position and affiliation, as well as contact information and a short CV, should be included in the body of the e-mail, with ‘Submission Hegel Network 2018’ in the subject line.

it is assumed that financial assistance will be available for travel and hotel costs. At this stage, however, there is no indication of a specific amount.
